Reverberant

Activating new museum spaces and integrating new options for dialogue with the contemporary, the Cup opens to a program of sound art under the curation of expert Josep Manuel Berenguer. The project that will cover all of 2024 and the beginning of 2025 is made up of this series of eight essentially sound proposals, although occasionally supported by images and composed under very diverse aesthetic prisms. According to its curator Josep Manuel Berenguer «Their common background is the contemplation of memory from the perspective of sound creation, which is listening. Almost everything is memory in sound, because, due to its transience, once extinguished in the space where it was produced, it reverberates in it for a time; and when that reverberation is extinguished, it continues to exist, perhaps reverberating forever, in the mind, which, in fact, is also a space. Special space, space of spaces, the mind contains, among others, music, whose limits are, in addition to those of the perception of sound in subjective time and space, those of the perception of perception itself, which is dilutes in a seemingly endless loop, who knows if infinite, who knows if equivalent to some closed and bounded set of points, compact, homotechnical, of non-integer dimensions, fractal, then, unlike the Euclidean space, the one that, despite which could very well be an illusion, according to the evidence that our daily lives provide us, it seems to be where we live. Each proposal contains one or several works by a single creator specialized in the domain of the artistic use of sound and will be exhibited for around a month in the Cup of the Apel les Fenosa Museum in El Vendrell, a space whose special reverberant characteristics activate our experience. habitual space and that is why they inspire transversal meditation on memory as a consequence of the reverberation that justifies this programming. The presentation of the series took place on January 18 at 7:00 p.m. in the Ricson Room of HANGAR.ORG, in the context of the activities of the Orchestra of Chaos, an orbiting project of HANGAR.ORG. Reverberante is an initiative of the Fundació Apel·les Fenosa and with the collaboration of La Orquestra del Caos, the Master in Sound Art of the University of Barcelona and HANGAR.ORG.
